Turns out, the man who bought the dog kennel was a soldier, leaving for Iraq the very next day. His dad was keeping his dog while he was gone, and needed a kennel. We will never know anything about this guy after today. But for some reason, laying in bed that night, I felt compelled to say a prayer for this soldier's safety.
I have so much respect for the men and women who put on a uniform, stand tall, and keep up safe and protected. My father is still a member of the Air National Guard, and has been oversees on several occasions. Our friend recently arrived home, after 4 years of serving abroad in the Marines. We have family friends, whose sons both served in the National Guard. And Hubby and I both have numerous family members who have served in the Armed Forces. We hold these, and so many others close to our hearts.
As Thanksgiving draws closer, stop on this day and be grateful for the blessing of freedom.
Today, find someone who has served.
And say, "thank you."
"We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude."
