Saturday Soundtrack {You Lead}

Friends, guess what?

We are sheep.  We all follow after something...

Let's be sure we're following the Good Shepherd.

Happy Saturday!

Saturday Soundtrack {It Won't Be Like This For Long}

Sometimes, songs have the power to say exactly what you need to hear.  This week, I was listening to Pandora and heard the song "It Won't Be Like This For Long."  This is a song I've heard plenty of times, but this week, it stopped me in my tracks.  When things get busy, hectic, or stressful, it's so easy to wish this time away.  Time goes by so quickly, and somewhere down the road, I am going to miss THIS moment...right here, right now.

My sister-in-law once shared this quote with me:
"The days are long, but the years are short."
It's a good reminder not to wish the present away, because somewhere in the future, we're going to wish for the moments from the past.

Happy listening.  Enjoy today, right where you are.

Saturday Soundtrack {Sisters}

Earlier this week, I wrote how thankful I am for my sister.  As I began to mull over songs for this week's Saturday Soundtrack, there was really only one song choice.

Kathie & I spent many years of our childhood performing our very own "shows" - complete with song and dance numbers.  One of our favorites was always the song "Sisters" from the movie White Christmas.  At one point, I think there were paper fans involved.  (We were nothing, if not authentic.)

Is there any song that reminds you of your siblings?
(And is there choreography to go with it???)

Saturday Soundtrack {Good Morning}

This song is a recent addition to our playlist.  The girls love to sing and dance to this upbeat number; I like to play it while we're eating breakfast and getting ready for the day.   And Lil' R calls this the "fancy" song....as in, "Mom, I wanna listen to that fancy song."

So, enjoy this fancy song, and have a good morning!

Saturday Soundtrack {Love and Laundry}

Ah yes, a song about real life!  We've been settling back into the school year, trying to find a new "normal" routine, while this tune keeps working it's way onto my playlist.

Saturday Soundtrack {A-B-C}

So, my lovely ladies started school this week.  It's official:  I'm the mom of a first grader (who's at school ALL DAY LONG), and a four-year old in preschool.  They were both gone on Thursday morning; it was very quiet here.

For your Saturday morning enjoyment:  a picture of school-going cuteness and some ABC's and 123's.

Saturday Sountrack {Coming To Your City}

Around here, Saturdays + Fall = College football.  And you can tell that Lil' R and Lil' N are daddy's girls because they LOVE the theme song for ESPN's College Game Day.  So in honor of the first Saturday of the college football season, it only seems appropriate that today's Saturday Soundtrack would be "Coming to Your City!"

Saturday Soundtrack {Put A Girl In It}

This week, Hubby and I enjoyed date night, courtesy of some friends who gave us free tickets to a concert at the state fair.  We went to the Ronnie Dunn & Reba McEntire concert (remember, I'm a country girl, folks!) and sang along to lots of "old favorites."  So, in honor of our night out...

And of course, haven't the girls and I made Hubby's life better?!?!?

Saturday Soundtrack {Hold Me}

Nothing stops the car crabbiness faster than a great tune.  When we're cruising around, running from errand to errand, we like the sing and groove and act silly in the car.  And this song is one of the girls' current favorites.  There's no way to listen to this one and not feel happy!

Saturday Soundtrack {The World}

Welcome to the Saturday Soundtrack! Today, I'm dipping into my country roots and sharing a fun, toe-tapping ditty.  You know what they say:  you can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl!

So go on.  Push play.  And get your Saturday-morning-boogie on.

Saturday Soundtrack {Do Everything}

Recently, I heard a song on the radio that caught my attention.  The song was “Do Everything” and the whole point was that no matter what we’re doing, we should do it for the glory of God.  But the lyrics drew me in from the very beginning, because it definitely seemed relevant to my life:

As a stay-at-home mom, I sometimes forget that things like laundry and dishes can be done for God.  As we go about our daily routine, I often fail to see all the opportunities to give Him glory.

In an interview about this new song, Steven Curtis Chapman explained the catalyst for writing these words.  “I think we all have a tendency to want to draw a line down life and say this {on one side} is the spiritual stuff, and this {on the other side of the line} is just the stuff – the spiritual versus the secular.  But we all know that there isn’t really a line.  It all matters.”

“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:30

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:10

Saturday Soundtrack {Anniversary Edition}

This week, we're delving into the lighter side of the Saturday Soundtrack.  Some friends recently introduced us to this song by comedian Tim Hawkins.  And it seemed perfect for our anniversary week.

Enjoy!

Saturday Soundtrack {A classic with a twist}

Welcome to my Saturday Soundtrack, where I share the tunes that keep our household groovin'.

This week, we've all been singing a classic with a twist.  One of the songs for Lil' N's Kindergarten Spring Sing was called "First Grade, First Grade."  It was adorable!  Imagine 60+ kindergarteners in top hats belting out these words:

Start spreading the news
We're leaving today
We want to be a part of it:
First grade, first grade

We've worked very hard
Our teachers are proud
We'll make a brand-new start of it
First grade, first grade

If we can make it there, we'll make it anywhere
So here we come
First grade, first grade!

So enjoy the classic below, or sing along with the "First Grade" version.
(And one other thing...how is my girl almost a first-graders?!?!?!?  But that's a topic for another day.)

Saturday Soundtrack {Never Grow Up}

This week, I was singing the Taylor Swift song, "Never Grow Up" to Lil' R and I was inserting her name into the chorus:

"Oh Lil' R, don't you ever grow up....
don't you ever grow up...
just stay this little."

Without taking a breath, she joined in with,

"Oh Mommy, I've gotta grow up...I've just gotta grow up."

AND THEN, she told me (and I quote), "Jesus wants me to grow up, so I can be a wedded wife."

Well, then . . .hard to argue with that.

Saturday Soundtrack {Hanging On}

Welcome to my Saturday Soundtrack!

While I won't say I have an all-time favorite song, I definitely have "favorites for the moment."  There are certain songs that just seem to speak to what's going on around me.

Right now, Hubby is very busy at work.  So, the girls and I have been spending a lot of time on our own.  Which is sometimes fun...and sometimes not.  I heard this song on Monday for the first time, but it just seems to "fit" our week.

And now, for your listening pleasure...
